Edison.com Redesign: Corporate Website

Edison International HomepageOverview:  This project was commissioned in corporation with Corporate communications, investor relations, and an externally facing design company.  The goal of the project was to update the branding on Edison Internationals web site.  One driving goal was to make the design “award winning” as well maintain our image as a utility company which has been serving California now for over 100 years.  In addition to the entire face lift, much of the content was to be moved around and reorganized.  On the back end, the CMS was going to be updated to improve the templating system.  Finally we had to take into account that the site itself was going to live on 5 separate servers each with different domain names and each with different assets on each server.  The templating system would have to take this into account.

Technology Used: ASP, MSSQL, Microsoft Site Server, Windows 2003, HTML, RSS, Flash, XML, JavaScript

Time Frame: 6 months business requirements, 2 months analysis and design, 2 – 3 months development, 1 month testing, 1 month post launch stewardship.

Awards Won: 3

Corporate Intranet Redesign

Edna.sce.comOverview: This project was a quick hit for Corporate Communications.  The idea here was to do something with our old design which had been around for 7 years and come up with something that incorporated the new Building the Future branding, as well as tie it into the branding for the Edison Family of Web sites.  This branding for the project was also to straddle the gap between our ERP Portal solution and old branding.  Scope included  a home page redesign, and 7 different templates, two menuing systems, an AJAX RSS reader, and content wells to act like “portlets”.  Also covered was the employee directory and paging system, the two highest used applications at the company.

Technology Used: HTML, XML, RSS, AJAX, Perl, Netscape Web Server, Sybase database.

Time Frame: 1 – 2 months.
